Disney Ages

We're on a princess tangent, get over it.

I think it's interesting to look at the ages of different Disney women. I'm weird. I know.

Some of these we're just gonna have to guess at.

Pocahontas-
This is the only Disney movie based on reality. However, real Pocahontas was, what? 12? I don't think Disney Pocahontas is 12. Her real age is up for grabs. Any guesses?

Ariel-
"I'm 16 years old. I'm not a child anymore."
Yep, she's 16.

Jasmine-
The law was that she marry a prince by her 16th birthday. This puts Jasmine at age 15. Yikes.

Meg-
Meg is based on a Greek Myth, obviously. (However, in the Greek Myth we learn that Hercules goes nuts and kills her. Oh, if only they included that part in the  Disney movie.) Anyway, any guesses of Meg's age?

Belle-
They never say Belle's age. Your guess is as good as mine... well, maybe not AS good as mine.

Aurora-
16.

Snow White-
I want to say 11, but I don't think that's right.

Cinderella-
I actually have no idea how old Cinderella is.

Esmeralda-
Victor Hugo wrote the novel, and I believe she is 15 or so in the novel. But... in the Disney film, there is no way to tell if they're keeping true to the novel or not.

Tiana-
I'm assuming she's old enough to run her own business.
Mulan-
Old enough to kick some butt.

Jane-
I don't know how old she is. But she's so cute!

So, here's where it gets interesting, you get to vote on how old you think the age-less ones are. Ready? Go!

Do you think it's strange that we don't know how old ANY of the princes are?

  1. I had read that Belle was supposed to be 18.

Meg- my guess is 22. Esmeralda has got to be at least 28!

  2. Yeah. 'Cause Meg had to have had that serious relationship a few years prior. She's no spring chicken.

  3. I think most of the girls are about 16, because that is how old girls were when they felt like they were supposed to be getting married back in the day. But Jane is old enough to go adventuring, so I'll say 20 for her. It is funny, because all of the princesses and heroines are supposed to be 15 or 16, yet they are all drawn to look 25. Huh.

    1. Hollywood's lie! They're always casting 25ers to play 15ers, and 40 year-olds are playing 30 year-olds! THAT is why people are always SO amazed to find out I'm the age I am. They always think I'm so much younger. COME ON!
