Disney Idol (Female Edition) Round 2

Your Top 13 Was:

Cinderella from Cinderella
Peg from Lady and the Tramp
Aurora from The Sleeping Beauty
Shanti from The Jungle Book
Belle from Beauty and the Beast
Jasmin from Aladdin/Mulan from Mulan
Nala from The Lion King
Pocahontas from Pocahontas
Esmeralda from The Hunchback of Notre Dame
Tiana from The Princess and the Frog
Rapunzel from Tangled
Anna from Frozen
Elsa from Frozen

After tallying up the votes on Facebook, the judges allowed a wild card to come back from being eliminated. So welcome back Ariel from The Little Mermaid. She'll perform a Wild Card song right here.

The first singer booted is Nala from The Lion King. She received 0 votes after round one.

The next to go is a tie between Belle from Beauty and the Beast, (the judges sob about this one, guys,) and Tiana from The Princess and the Frog. They both received one vote, and sadly, that's not enough to stay in the competition.

The last singer to go home tonight, is, sadly, Elsa from Frozen, who only managed a mere 2 votes.

After the rest of the votes were counted, the standings are as follows:

The Remaining Top Ten:

Pocahontas from Pocahontas: 28
Aurora from The Sleeping Beauty: 28
Mulan from Mulan: 21

Cinderella from Cinderella: 20
Elsa from Frozen: 15
Rapunzel from Tangled: 13
Shanti from The Jungle Book: 10
Esmeralda from The  Hunchback of Notre Dame: 8
Ariel from The Little Mermaid: 8
Peg from Lady and the Tramp: 3

Voting is open now. Don't let your favorite fall through the cracks!

Aurora from The Sleeping Beauty
Girl from The Jungle Book
Ariel from The Little Mermaid
Belle from Beauty and the Beast
Jasmin from Aladdin/Mulan from Mulan
Nala from The Lion King
Pocahontas from Pocahontas
Esmeralda from The Hunchback of Notre Dame
Meg from  Hercules
Giselle from Enchanted
Tiana from The Princess and the Frog
Rapunzel from Tangled
Anna from Frozen
Elsa from Frozen

Then, since American Idol does it this way, we narrow the choices down to a top 13.

The women who didn't make the top 13 are:

Snow White. Snow White's voice is unique, for sure, but not entirely pleasant to listen to. Come back when you can sing an octave lower.

Giselle from Enchanted. Giselle sings good enough, but not good enough to stay in this competition with the other talent.

Ariel from The Little Mermaid. For a mermaid who's supposed to have, as Prince Eric calls it, "the most beautiful voice," she sure sounds pained when she sings in her upper register.

And the last woman who is going home tonight is... Meg from Hercules. She has an all right voice, I guess, but something about it makes me want to punch her in the face.

America, your top 13 is...

Cinderella from Cinderella
Peg from Lady and the Tramp
Aurora from The Sleeping Beauty
Shanti from The Jungle Book
Belle from Beauty and the Beast
Jasmin from Aladdin/Mulan from Mulan
Nala from The Lion King
Pocahontas from Pocahontas
Esmeralda from The Hunchback of Notre Dame
Tiana from The Princess and the Frog
Rapunzel from Tangled
Anna from Frozen
Elsa from Frozen

Voting is open now.

Do You Want to Build a Snowman?

Ladies and gentlemen, do not ask, "Do you wanna build a snowman?" Instead, ask why you haven't seen more hilarious memes about that quote.

Well, now you don't have to ask either... unless you want to.

The Legend of Hercules

We rented this movie in the hopes that it would be so bad it's good. We weren't disappointed. This movie is awful.
It wishes it was Clash of the Titans, which is sad. A movie about Hercules should never wish it was a movie about Perseus.

This was one of those movies that you watch and think, "Why?"

The Amazing Spider-Man 2

So, my first thought is "Wow, this music is trying really hard to be Danny Elfman's music from the first trilogy, only it's awful."

My second thought was, "This flash-back scene sucks. Why is Peter Parker's mom only partially upset about leaving her only son behind? I'm more worked up about leaving my only son home with the babysitters while I watch this movie. I guess they didn't really love Peter, to not be torn up about leaving him forever."

So, that's how we started the movie. I'll say this movie wasn't bad. I thought the dialog was pretty awful, but not noticeably awful where someone off the street who knows nil about dialog would be like, "that was awful." But I, who have studied dialog, noticed. The mediocrity hit me hardest when Max/Electro was on screen. I love Jamie Foxx, but in the first three seconds of being on camera he has to tell us he's a nobody. Come on! Can't we find out another way? People don't usually declare their nobody-status that easily to celebrity strangers. Another review likened him to Jim Carrey's The Riddler in Batman Forever, but in Batman Forever The Riddler didn't have to tell us he was a nobody. That fact was loud and clear. (Is it sad when Batman Forever is showing you up?) It's just not exactly subtle.

And can we trade in Leo DiCaprio Jr. and get James Franco back, please? It's not that Baby Leo sucks, it's just that James Franco was SO MUCH BETTER. (Seriously, why are we doing these movies again? Is it just to replace Kristen Dunst's Mary Jane with Emma Stone's Gwen Stacy?)

Then the movie ended and another movie with another theme started. And that was my major beef with this movie. It was either too long or too short. It was complete and incomplete at the same time. It felt rushed. The script should have been reworked 900 more times.

Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

For a dude whose name is in the title, the Winter Soldier is hardly on the screen. Just sayin'.

What I like about this movie is Captain America. He's a great guy. Out of all of the super heroes, I'd probably trust him the most. Superman just seems like he'd be mean to me. Batman is scary. Iron Man is vain. The Hulk... do I even have to say why I wouldn't want to be around him?

I also like Black Widow. I also like... well, I like everyone. Even Agent Hill wasn't bugging me with her dull acting.

What I don't like about this movie is that it's boring. Oh my gosh, is it boring. And it's predictable. I'M SORRY if you didn't - spoilers - know that Fury was faking it, or that the dude in charge was totally evil, (that became obvious the second time we see him when he's talking to Captain Rogers. Why? I'm not sure. But it was true, and I knew it.)

The other big shocker was that Mr. Winter was actually Roger's supposedly dead friend, or whom Oncers might know as Jefferson/The Mad Hatter, Bucky. This was not a surprise either; the reason being two fold. 1. I have access to IMDb, (how do you think I also knew he was Jefferson?) 2. He was wearing a mask! Every single time in a movie when someone wears a mask it's for one of two reasons. 1. He's actually a girl. 2. He's someone we have already met. Or, okay, there's another reason but it's rare, it's when the person in the mask is actually yourself, or even more rarely, your twin. For example, someone's chasing someone in a mask and when they catch up to them and peel the mask off it's themself! WHAT! It happened in Once Upon a Time. Then once Lindsey Lohan was fencing someone in a fencing mask who turned out to be her twin. That was The Parent Trap. (I only know because the other day I tried to watch it, got to that part and had to turn it off. I've forced myself to sit through it before, but no more!)

So, in short, I felt like I was watching the first movie again, but in the present day, with present people. I kept thinking, "Come one, stop showing so much action." Maybe you like that sort of thing. I just want my action to be something I haven't seen before. I've watched a lot of Jackie Chan movies, people; I've seen a lot. Maybe they can't come up with anything cool after Bruce Willis threw that car at that helicopter, or when in Austen Power's 3, Tom Cruise flipped over a helicopter and shot the people inside. For whatever reason, people shouldn't be bored during an action film. Am I right?
